Galinsoga quadriradiata is an annual plant that belongs to the composite family (Asteraceae) and is closely related to asters, chrysanthemums and dahlias.

The commonly known as Hairy Galinsoga, Shaggy Soldier or Peruvian Daisy originates from Mexico but grows invasively in many European countries such as in some Nort American and African regions. It can reach a height of up to one metre. Its flowering period can last from June to December.

Hairy Galinsoga

Hairy Galinsoga fields, construction sites, gardens, parks, roadsides or stairs and is edible. The leaves are mild in flavour, similar to lettuce. It grows best in humus-rich to slightly loamy soil in full- to partial sun locations and self-sows in the garden.
